They are used on everything from full-size cars, vans and crossovers to light-duty pickup trucks and SUVs. Class 3 trailer hitches are perfect for towing fishing boat trailers, popup campers, ATV trailers, utility trailers and much more. Each CURT class 3 hitch is engineered to fit on a specific vehicle. This provides the best possible fit and easiest installation. This particular custom class 3 hitch fits specific years of the Jeep Wrangler JK and JL (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide or use the Vehicle Lookup tool). It is designed to integrate with the vehicle's existing features and offer a reliable connection to your trailer.

This Jeep Wrangler hitch is stringently tested in accordance with SAE J684 to ensure a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. gross trailer weight and 350 lbs. tongue weight. It is compatible with a weight distribution hitch to provide more stable towing and a weight distribution rating of 4,000 lbs. WD and 400 lbs. WDTW. It also features a 2" receiver tube opening to accept ball mount or other hitch accessory with a 2" x 2" shank.

From class 1 to class 5, all CURT custom-fit receiver hitches are made in the USA to ensure quality from design to finish (may include imported hardware). They are designed with hands-on engineering for a precise fit. They are welded using a combination of manual and robotic operations for speed and accuracy. Finally, they are finished with our unique co-curing process. Each hitch is dipped in a liquid A-coat for rust prevention, inside and out, and then co-cured in a durable black powder coat finish for maximum rust, chip and UV resistance.

    Needed some cutting

    I bought this from a local supplier. Their books showed it fitting my 2021 ecodiesel Rubicon. In order to fit around the Def tank you have to notch the hitch mount and drill a hole for Def tank to bolt back up through. You must loosen the side mount also for Def tank to pull it down enough to get Bolts fed through. You also then have to shim down the other Def tank mounting hole tabs when putting back together. Took a bit over an hour and you need a cut off saw as the steel is heavy. Otherwise the hitch is good and easy to mount. No Jack or help needed. Without Def tank probably a 20 minute install.

    Easy DIY install, robust hitch

    Hitch install is fairly easy, 1 person 1/2 hour.
    The hitch is heavy so a jack or a helper is recommended when lining up the holes and bolts. Mine took some patience to line up perfectly.
    You can install the hitch and bolts w/o dropping the muffler (removing/installing on the rubber hangers is pain and more work) but you’ll need a 3/4” claw foot to properly torque the fasteners as no socket or torque wrench will fit on them w/o one.
    BTW 110 ftlbs is about all a strong guy can generate with a 3/4” box end wrench. Pull really hard!

    Will not fit JL Wrangler with factory wiring harness

    Like Shawn stated, I, too, always put the CURT hitches on my vehicles. I ordered this right after ordering the JL. When I tried to install, the factory wiring harness would not allow it to be installed. The CURT unit looks like it is built a lot better than the factory hitch. I had it too long to return and so it is collecting dust in my garage. Hopefully CURT will make the design change to allow it to fit. The factory hitch is Class 2 and the Curt hitch is Class 3 and it just looks better.

    Well built but can't accomodate factory wiring bracket

    I've always installed Curt hitches and was excited to get one on my new 2018 Wrangler JL. It arrived and was built so much better than the factory Mopar hitch, however the design needs to be adjusted to allow for the factory Mopar wiring harness BRACKET. If you intend to install the factory mopar BRACKET in the pre-tapped holes, this hitch will not allow that. I ended up having to return this hitch and order the Mopar hitch so everything would line up as the factory had designed. I'd rather have the heavy duty construction of the Curt, but since I wanted a factory look for the wiring, this one didn't work for me.
