The Echo® mobile trailer brake controller is truly a brake control for the modern age. It plugs into your vehicle and wirelessly connects to your smartphone, allowing you to control and monitor all trailer brake activity right from your own device. It comes with a customizable app for Apple or Android phones, a portable design to easily switch between vehicle-trailer combinations and a durable, weather-resistant construction.
Most things in this day and age can be accessed or controlled from a smartphone. With the Echo®, that includes your trailer brakes. Echo® is powered by a Bluetooth enabled system that connects right to your smartphone. Your phone becomes the brake control monitoring unit in the cab of your vehicle. There is no need for extra modules, controls, buttons or knobs.
The Echo® mobile trailer brake controller has one of the easiest installations in the industry. It simply plugs into the standard 7-way RV blade socket at the rear of your vehicle and provides a socket to plug in the trailer harness. It Ts into the connection, going between the vehicle and trailer plugs, and it is completely non-invasive. It also features automatic calibration to help eliminate setup requirements.
The Echo® trailer brake controller comes with a custom-designed app that can be downloaded for iOS or Android OS phones. With this app, the wireless brake control is able to connect to your smartphone and display brake control settings and activity. It also sends you status updates and allows you to receive incoming calls while the app is running. Note: If Bluetooth connection is lost, the brake controller will continue to function safely, using the most recently programmed settings.
With its compact design and simple, plug-and-play installation, the Echo® is extremely portable. You can easily transfer it between vehicles and use it with multiple trailers, as long as the vehicle and trailer have a 7-way RV blade connector. The Echo® Smart Control app allows you to store multiple vehicle-trailer profiles, making ideal for commercial fleets.
Because the Echo® mobile trailer brake controller is made to be outside the vehicle, we engineered it for maximum weather resistance. It is constructed with a potted enclosure, meaning the inside of the unit is filled with an epoxy resin that seals off the internal components from moisture and the elements. This ensures long-lasting operation in spite of rain, snow, dirt, mud and more. The Echo® also has a retention strap and locking tab for connecting to the 7-way RV blade vehicle socket. The strap and tab help maintain a strong connection, keeping the unit firmly installed.
The Echo® mobile brake controller operates using a triple-axis motion-sensing accelerometer -- an integrated circuit that produces smooth, safe stops every time. It is compatible with two to four trailer brakes (one to two axles) and can be used with low-voltage or PWM wiring systems. Echo® is also compatible with cruise control and ABS brakes and has built-in reverse-polarity protection and short-circuit protection. It is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Used this for the first time pulling a 16 ft tandem trailer loaded with 6000lbs. Drove about 40 miles and it never lost connection. Braking was very smooth. Only issue is with my 2018 F-150. Truck has to be running with TOW MODE active, then plug trailer into the Echo, then plug Echo into the truck. Only way to make the truck turn on the plug outlet. Once I figured that trick out it has worked perfectly. Highly recommend!!

I've been using this device for 30,000 plus miles and it has operated absolutely flawlessly! Set up with the app is simple. The Echo is not an inexpensive unit, but it is worth every penny. Being able to save different vehicles settings is really handy. I've used it in all kinds of weather, and it never missed a beat. Highly recommend this unit!

I bought my original brake controller in 2020, and the dust cover (with the security clip) broke off. The product still worked great, but I was using bungy cords to make sure it did not fly off when driving aoing. When I called to inquire about the warranty and/or replacement, they sent me a new one! THAT is freaking AMAZING customer service!!!! And now I have a back-up controller in a pinch. THANK YOU CURT!!! (heart emojis)

We were recently on a trip to Maine traveling through NY when the Curt brake controller sent a message to my phone that there was an overheat situation at the camper and that it was deactivating the braking system. We exited ASAP to inspect the situation. Turns out the camper blew out a wheel assembly and axle. Had we not received this message, we may have continued on until there was a real on road disaster. This brake controller protected my family from a potentially major accident. I am 100% convinced this controller was the best $300 I have ever spent. Thank you Curt!

The only issue I have is that there is now Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto integration into car Infotainment systems.
Considering Apple is coming out with a new Apple CarPlay redesign, now might be a good time to add it. You can use the “Live Sports” function on Apple and android devices so they can have access to the emergency brake application while using other systems like navigation and music playback. -
I purchased the Echo at Camping World when I took delivery of my 3000# camper. Since CW will not let a camper weighing 3000# dry weight leave the premises, you are forced to buy a brake controller. We had trouble accessing the Lippert App. Then, the instructions said that you have to start your tow vehicle engine before you can pair the Echo with the APP. Well, that's not quite true. Tech Support at Curt told me that you need to drive the vehicle and get above 30 mph before you can "push the orange button" on the APP and get a full circle denoting full engagement. Unless I missed that in the overly complicated manual, this should be put in BOLD LETTERS.

Purchased this blue tooth controller from local RV dealership (along with weight distribution / anti-sway hitch) Both seem to be performing as designed - allowing me to tow our new 3800 lb RV without issues

After doing much research, I ended up getting Echo. I could not find someone to install a traditional one in time for an upcoming trip, so figured I would try this out. It worked great the first time. The second time it would not connect. I thought it was the device, but turned out I had a blown fuse in the car. Third time, I lost connection to my 7 pin The whole thing, trailer lights and all stopped working while on the highway. I thought maybe I blew a fuse again but pulled over, and pushed it in and everything came back on. On the way home I used a Zip tie to tie it tight and no problems. Like others have said, Needs a better way to secure it, and the LED light is a pain to see under the cap of the 7 way! Other than that it worked as expected.

Why in the world would the indicator light be placed under the 7 way vehicle cover when installed?

Have now had blue tooth trailer brake controller about 600 miles. 19ft camper RV 4500lbs, behind 07 Tahoe. I do not believe the controller would "lock up" the brakes but the controller does function well. The response is "gentle but effective" and relieves the braking load off of the pulling vehicle very well. Ease off installation is awesome "Plug and Play" and can be moved from and to any trailer or vehicle. I am concerned about durability (plastic construction) and unit is a bit pricey w/o a lifetime guarantee. Overall thumbs up!!!
