Gooseneck installation brackets work by bolting onto the frame of your truck, typically using pre-existing holes. With a set of brackets firmly bolted on, a gooseneck hitch is able to be attached and is given the strength it needs to manage the massive amount of weight of a gooseneck trailer. With so many gooseneck hitch options available from CURT, we wanted to make sure we offered the gooseneck installation products needed to give you a complete towing package. Our installation brackets fit multiple vehicles and hitch heads.

This particular set of gooseneck installation brackets is able to work with CURT Double Lock and Quick Goose II gooseneck hitches. It is rated to the vehicle's maximum gross trailer weight capacity and provides a custom fit for certain years of the Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 (for a complete listing of vehicle and hitch compatibility, see the CURT application guide or visit curtmfg.com). With each set of CURT gooseneck installation brackets, we provide the necessary hardware for an easier installation, and we coat our gooseneck brackets in a liquid A-coat to make sure rust and other potential damages are not a problem.

Installed on 1999 Ram 4wd, ex cab.
It was great that I could use existing holes and not drill.
Install is easy in theory, but in real life the struggle was making the steps work, not the steps themselves.
The cross members are a very tight fit between the bed and the frame. For the large angle iron I had to put in at angle and then force upright with a hammer.
The front cross member is a solid chunk of steel. BE SURE TO TRY THE THREADS FIRST with a bolt before you put it in place. On mine, the last bolt I tried (of the whole assembly) had bad threads. I think there was a flake of metal shaving under the pain inside the hole. I nearly stripped out the threads. I had to chase with a tap (fortunately I had the right one), painstakingly snaked under the truck fender well.
The side plates needed some serious persuading to get the holes lined up.
Put the nuts on the inside as you will be tightening the bolt, not the nut, and the bolt easier to get to from the outside of the frame. You will not get a torque wrench inside either. Torque of 110 foot pounds is about all you can do with a 16 inch long wrench - if you don't have a torque wrench. Get as tight as you can without using a breaker bar and it will be close temporarily.
Also, I put a Curt Double Lock Hitch with this. The directions said to use either a 4 inch or the next size down hole saw to cut a hole in the truck bed. I chose the smaller of the two. It is a 4 inch hole, do not go smaller. I spent quite a bit of time filing the hole bigger by hand. There is a chrome ring that will cover quite a big gap even if you go 4 1/4 hole.
Also, important ***** The measurement (on my 8 foot bed) is from the back to the location where to drill the hole. I drilled exactly, but beware that this puts the front cross member touching the bed support. There is zero wiggle room to the front, so maybe reduce the measurement number by 1/4 inch if you want wiggle room or safety. There is not a lot of wiggle room in the side plate bolt holes either, so do a loose fit with bolts through side plates and see if you can make it work.
