Part of towing responsibly is making sure your trailer lights are working properly. Whether you have just installed a new custom wiring harness or are trying to locate the cause of an electrical problem, CURT connector testers are great for testing tail lights, turn signals, brake lights, ground connections and other electrical components on your vehicle.

A connector tester works by plugging into the connector socket on your vehicle and responding to the various electrical signals produced by pushing the brake pedal, signaling a turn, turning on the running lights and so on. When the socket is getting proper power, the tester's various LEDs will light up corresponding to each wire in the connector. Testing your vehicle-side socket is essential after installing a new custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring harness and is highly recommended every time you hitch up to tow. Also, if you are experiencing electrical problems with your trailer, a CURT tester will be able to tell you whether the problem is rooted in your vehicle's electrical system or if your trailer needs some rewiring.

All CURT connector testers come with LED lights to be bright and long-lasting. Wire testers are available for 4-way flat, 5-way flat, 6-way round and 7-way RV blade connectors. This particular electrical tester fits a 7-way RV blade socket and comes with quality plastic construction.

works well but missing one feature

Works very well with one exception - the circuit on the brake wire (blue wire to the #2 connector) does not create a sufficient load to "wake up" my brake controller so that it will drive the signal for the brakes (it checks the load on that circuit to see if there is a trailer present). Would be nice if the tester had provisions for wiring in a load resistor across the brake control signal and ground.

    Tim's an idiot

So I read Tim's review and still bought the product because it has 6 Led's to indicate power. Since all those LED's would need a ground circuit to function, it clearly tests all 7 pins of the vehicle.

    Works Great

The previous review is incorrect. A 7 way only has 6 functions, the 7th is the ground! Tests R turn|L turn|12V|Elec Brake|Park Lights|Backup

    A 6-Way Tester for a 7-Way plug

The tester is fine, but does not test all 7 connectors on the plug. It only tests the 6 surrounding blades, not the center pole. Since GM vehicles often come with the center connection disconnected you need a way to test to see if it was connected after the vehicle was purchased, or if the fuse is bad.
