How to Install Hitch Pin - CURT Manufacturing

http://www.curtmfg.com All US roadways are designed with rain run-off in mind leaving the highest point in the center and allowing the rain to run off towards the ditches. This is something you should keep in mind when installing your receiver pin. Always insert the pin on the driver's side of the receiver tube so if something were to happen to the cotter pin the vibrations of the road will drive the pin further in place. Instead of allowing it to fall out. This is also why when towing you should routinely check your towing set-up. Another way to combat this problem is by checking out one of CURT's lockable receiver pins.

How to use a Snap Lock: CURT 58280

This video for the CURT 58280 Snap Lock will explain what a Snap Lock is, and how it is used. A Snap Lock, also known as a scotch lock, or quick splice connector, is s 2 channel wire connector that is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp or strip the existing wire. The Snap lock has an aluminum blade that can pierce the wires in each channels of the Snap lock, giving you the desired connection through the blade. Using the snap lock to splice wires is simple. The only tool required is a pliers. This Snaplock has 2 open channels. It also has a gap on the side to allow the existing wire to be inserted. Simply place the existing unstripped wire that you would like to splice, through the gap, into the open channel of the Snap Lock. Now insert the new, "Tap Wire" into the second channel of the Snap Lock. Next, use the pliers to squeeze the blade of the Snap Lock down. Make sure you squeeze tight enough to pierce the wires. This action will create the connection between the two wires. Double check to make sure that the blade of the Snap lock is all the way in place. Now, all you need to do is close the lid, and your splice is complete. Simple and easy. It's a good idea to give the splice wire a tug to make sure it is secure. Thanks for watching this video, and make sure to check out all the CURT products available for your ride. Tow safely and don't forget..to BRING IT.
