Cyclocross for Hunger

Posted in: Cycling

The course challenging, the riders eager, and the weather beautiful. I remember it like it was a couple weeks ago…ok it was 2 weeks ago. CURT helped sponsor the 2012 Princeton Valley Cyclocross Race to benefit the Feed My People Food Bank of West Central Wisconsin. The race was put on by the Overdrive Cycling Club based out of Eau Claire, WI. November is typically a pretty cold here in Eau Claire, but the sun was out and the temperature rose to a balmy 30 degrees.

Over 60 riders of all ages came from Wisconsin and Minnesota to compete in at least one of four race categories; 2 lap Kids/Juniors, 30 Minute Men’s and Women’s, 45 Minute Men’s and Women’s, and 60 Minute Men’s Masters. You could sense the excitement and anticipation brewing as the riders unloaded bikes from their trailer hitch mounted bike racks. I’ve never attended a Cyclocross race before, and didn’t quit know what to expect. When the races began I immediately became immersed into the excitement and wished I could enjoy the burning thigh pain I knew they were experiencing. Take a look at this video the CURT video team put together to catch more of the action!
